How to recognize and defeat internal agression

Perfect people who completely control their emotions do not exist. And certainly there are no perfect traders. Financial risks of trading make us constantly go to extremes. We always feel either content with ourselves or empty.

But if the situation is particularly difficult, we feel another emotion, which is aggression. In this case, it is better to immediately give rein to your passions than continue to push your feelings to the margins and lose money. A harmless splash is a tool of a trader’s emotional stability.

Don’t be shy of your external agression

Do not be afraid to swear or thump the table. Aggression is an absolutely natural feeling, and it is normal to extend it. The main thing is that as a result of the release of negative energy no one is hurt (and nothing is broken).

But why are we talking about this? The fact is that, in addition to aggression, there is a more dangerous enemy – covert aggression. If you understand its signs you will blow off the steam and go back to normality.

Number one sign: breaking your promises

How to understand that covert aggression is prevailing over you? It’s simple: you start breaking your promises. Let’s look at an example.

A trader had a good morning session, which ended even more profitably than he had expected. In such cases he usually promises himself to return to the market only after a certain period of time, and that’s what he does. However, this time, thrilled by success, the trader continues to trade in the hope of greater gain.

The result of breaking one’s own promise to stick to the trading plan is most often sad. The trader loses not only his profit, but also the initial deposit.

Remember that you can not fail to fulfill your promises either in life or in trading. Otherwise, you do not belong to yourself, you are possessed by the covert aggression.

Number two sign: random transactions

The lack of a clear opinion on the situation when one wants to carry out a transaction is another sign of the covert aggression. Novice investors know this feeling.

You may have the chart in front of you, the funds, but no idea of the kinds of analysis. Will the price move up or down? And how long can the trend last?

Each transaction is an act of your determination and confidence. If you have objective grounds to doubt, then postpone the deal. Otherwise, you will provoke an internal aggressor and … perhaps you will lose money.

In order to reduce the probability of this situation to zero, you should throw yourself into the current systems of market analysis and strategy. This will definitely help.

Number three sign: a desire to change the style

It is possible to reveal another indicator of increased covert aggression if you have an understanding of the kind of trader you are. Are you a scalper or a person who prefers to invest through a dedicated period? Having tried different approaches and tested various strategies, we all find the style that suits us best over time.

But when this goal is achieved, it is possible to identify an increase in the level of covert aggression by catching oneself thinking of changing the style. Sudden decision to switch from scalping to longer timeframes is a 99 percent signal that an internal anomaly has arisen.

If you have found your style, try not to “break” yourself again and again, but to improve what you already have. Otherwise, there will be no progress.

Obviously, there is a causal link between the covert aggression and failures in trading, which a trader should understand. So do not forget: the mechanism of transformation of one’s internal aggression into the external one is very simple. It is better to thump the table and follow the rules than to lose both profit and deposit.
