Licenses for Huawei: warming or bluffing?

The BoE has faith Britain can weather any separation, Chinese stimulus shows some positive impact, & Huawei may soon be able to deal in the U.S. again.

 

News

President Trump had agreed to allow companies to restart selling tech to Huawei, licenses could be provided in as little as two days. Affects the S&P500


Bank of England Governor Mark Carney said the British central bank has the ability to respond to either slower growth or higher inflation which could follow the country’s departure from the EU. Affects GBP


The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said rapidly shrinking and aging populations in central and southeastern Europe could significantly hamper economic growth and convergence with more developed European economies. Affects the EUR


The positive Chinese data may indicate early success in the government’s stimulus efforts and potentially more oil demand in the world’s second-biggest economy, though gains were capped by overall figures showing the country’s slowest quarterly economic growth in decades. Affects Brent


China’s economic growth slowed to 6.2% in the second quarter, its weakest pace in at least 27 years, as demand at home and abroad faltered in the face of mounting U.S. trade pressure. Affect the S&P500

The German ZEW Economic Sentiment for July will be published. The ZEW Economic Sentiment Index gauges the six-month economic outlook. Affects the EUR.


12:00 GMT

Britains BoE Gov Carney Speaks. Carney has more influence over sterling’s value than any other person. Affects GBP.


12:30 GMT

The U.S.’s Core Retail Sales (MoM) for June will be published. Core Retail Sales measures the change in the total value of sales at the retail level in the U.S., excluding automobiles. Affects the USD.


17:00 GMT

The U.S. Fed Chair Powell will speak. As head of the Fed, which controls short term interest rates, he has more influence over the U.S. dollar’s value than any other person. Affects the USD.

 

Technical analysis

S&P500

Perhaps the United States and China will move from the politics of talk to the policy of action. We have received information that Huawei products may begin to be sold in 2 weeks. This news will have a positive effect on the stock market.

But S&P500’s chart may decrease because its RSI is in the overbought zone.

Ethereum

The asset can resume sales if its quote reaches 234.

EUR/USD

Its daily timeframe chart shows a Head and Shoulders reversal pattern, so a decrease can be expected.
